How do we become extraordinary leaders?

How do we fulfill our purpose?

How can we lead our most meaningful, impact-driven lives?

These questions have animated Lara’s 25 years in leadership development, organizational growth, and social change work.

As the founder of The Genuine, Lara provides executive coaching, strategic planning, and advisory support to leaders seeking to elevate themselves, their teams, and their organizations for greater impact. She has developed a science-backed methodology that helps clients cultivate their purpose and integrate it deeply into their work and workplaces. She works with leaders pioneering new initiatives as well as those looking to reimagine established organizations and practices.

Lara is also an institutional leader and systems strategist with more than two decades of experience scaling mission-driven organizations, stewarding complex partnerships, and building field-level infrastructure at moments of social and technological transition. Across both her coaching and institutional work, she helps leaders translate bold ideas and deeply held values into durable action.

She currently serves as Executive Director at Project Liberty, where she leads a coalition of 50 prominent organizations and initiatives working across artificial intelligence and human flourishing. The coalition is focused on shifting the current trajectory of AI toward greater human agency, stronger democratic institutions, and the conditions people and communities need to thrive.

At Project Liberty, Lara leads cross-sector strategy and coalition architecture, aligning institutions around shared priorities in AI governance and development. She designs global convenings that move beyond conversation toward coordinated action and helps translate shared principles into lasting institutional commitments. Her work accelerates collaboration across a fragmented field in which no single organization can succeed alone.

Earlier in her career, Lara served for more than a decade as a co-leader of Echoing Green, one of the world’s leading early-stage investors in social innovation. During a period of sevenfold organizational growth, she co-led the expansion of Echoing Green’s operating budget and revenue base, strengthening its long-term sustainability while supporting the launch and development of more than 250 pioneering organizations across 70 countries. Her work centered on building the systems, including selection, fellowship support, alumni engagement, communications, and governance, that allowed the organization and its community to grow without losing rigor.

Lara currently serves on the board of Community Resource Exchange. She previously served as the founding co-chair of Wesleyan University’s Patricelli Center for Entrepreneurship and as board chair of I-MAK for more than a decade, advancing global access to life-saving medicines.

Throughout her career, Lara has worked at the intersection of leadership, purpose, and institutional change, aligning governance, capital, relationships, and leadership to build organizations that turn ambitious ideas into sustained impact.
